“Kitsune” is an embracing of my experience with mental health and personal mythology through Japanese folklore. Kitsune are shape-shifters and tricksters, but are also to providers of luck and wisdom. The line-work mimics the swells, turbulence, and beauty of feeling swept up away in mesmerizing movements of deep thoughts and emotions. The physical process of hand carving creation demanded attention to detail, acceptance of flaws, a mindfulness of the boundaries of my physical body.
